Prof. Jonathan Ojo


Professor Jonathan Folorunsho Ojo was born in Ikere-Ekiti ( a town in South western Nigeria, West Africa).  He attended Christ's School in Ado-Ekiti where he was awarded the prizes for the best performance in Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry in December 1959. His University education was in Ibadan where he received his first degree (B.Sc) Chemistry in 1965 and a second degree (Ph.D) also in Chemistry in 1969. An experienced teacher, he resumed as a lecturer in Chemistry at the then University of Ife on the 1st of October 1970.

Since then Professor Ojo has been awarded several grants and fellowships around the world as listed below:
- Fulbright-Hays Scholar, Seattle, Washington:
   Awarded by the American Academy of Sciences, Washington D.C. July -October 1971
- Commonwealth Fellow, Fellowship :
   Awarded by Committee of Commonwealth Universities, Leeds, England, October 1973 -September 1974.
- International Atomic Energy Agency Fellow:
  Texas A & M University, U.S.A., October 1978-December 1979
- Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Fellow:
   April - October 1989, TOHOKU, SENDAI, JAPAN
- D.A.A.D Fellow(Germany), M.P.I. Fur Biophys. Chem., Gottengen,
   September -December 1994, Germany.

He is a member of the following professional bodies:
